Win a $50 Target Gift Card
Maybe as a reward for parents who are intentional in their parenting, BetterParenting.com is offering a $50 Target Gift Card Giveaway! Joining is easy enough. Just leave a comment as to how you're going to spend the money!
Bonus entries will be given, however, for those who are willing to go the extra mile. One that would earn you 10 bonus entries is to blog about a favorite Better Parenting article, with a link to the post. Dare I say that all those I have written can be found here? Haha.
To be objective though, my favorite Better Parenting article is the one on Secondary Infertility. First, it was very poignantly written. It's also something that I am sort of dealing with right now, something that I am scared of. I could totally relate with the author, feeling guilty about desperately wanting another child when am already blessed with a healthy one. But some parents just really want more kids. And I feel we have love enough, and creativity enough to find the means, for another one (or two).

Capitol Hills Made More Relaxing
BlueWater Day Spa has just recently opened a branch at Capitol Hills Golf Club, amidst the exclusive villages and the golf course.
It features great views as well as BlueWater's trademark of well-thought of facilities like the Spa Home Theater system. I'm guessing golfers who have sweat it out at the nearby golf course will love getting pampered there by getting foot scrubs together while talking about the highlights of their recent game.
But one other thing I think nearby establishments can do is team up with BlueWater Day Spa and give out spa certificates as prizes. It's a cheaper but equally wonderful incentive to give out to employees of the country and golf clubs. Say, no tardy episodes for an entire month will entitle you to a foot massage. And if you accummulate your "points" for three months, then you'll be entitled to something more luxe at the spa.
Spa certificates can also be given as prizes in the golf tournaments. Nothing like a good facial to go along with your retelling of your win and the showcasing of your trophy.
Mommies can also treat their local day care and preschool teachers to a day at the spa as a reward for stimulating and caring for their kids while these precious ones aren't home.
(And instead of PJ parties, maybe moms can just sponsor their kids receiving treatments together instead so there'd be less shrieking and junk food at home, and more actual pampering and bonding)
So those that live nearby or those who want to go to a spa with a nicer ambience than usual, do check this latest addition to the BlueWater franchise:
BlueWater Day Spa Capitol Hills Branch
Capitol GreenStreet Commercial Center, Capitol Hills Golf Annex Building, Capitol Hills Drive, Old Balara, Quezon City
Telephone Numbers: +63 (2) 4730455, 9524829, 4350114
And now, they're giving 20 bloggers a chance to enjoy the luxuriousness of their spa. Check out their contest which runs till April 21, 2009 only.

Fish & Co.
A friend was chosen for the Yehey and Fish & Co. Plating Event for Bloggers last Thursday. Unfortunately, she had to back out at the last minute and referred me instead. So I found myself with 19 other bloggers at Fish & Co. at Shangri-la Mall.
Turned out, some of them were bloggers I met at the spa event a month ago. One is a Berks friend and another was a N@Wie Mom. But the best thing was being teamed up with competitive go-getters who made the contest really challenging and fun.
We were split in four teams, representing fish fillet dish flavors that the restaurant offers: Malaysia, India, Japan and Philadelphia. I was part of Team Philadelphia of the blue sash and travel/dining teammates.
We were given P500 each and a list of ingredients to buy. I forget now if we were given 15 or 30 minutes to shop. The first team to get back to the resto was given prizes (we were first!) but the real task was to plate fish and chips according to the country of inspiration.
Melo, a sef-proclaimed foodie and OC plater (is there such a word?) took charge. We asked for a basket and proceeded to just surround the fish and fries with the healthy veggies and colorful cheese we bought. We were the first to finish plating as well. We called ours Philly Fish Steak, inspired by the Philly Cheese steak ingredients of cheese, onions, lettuce and tomatoes.
The Other groups were just as inspired and prepared. Unfortunately for them, the judges decided that ours was still the best! Maybe because it's the most realistic and doable presentation of all. We each were awarded P500 Fish & Co. GCs.
The worst thing about the event though is me forgetting to charge my cam batteries. I ended up missing out on a lot of photo opportunities.

Needless to say, we were also treated to Fish & Co. treats. I actually really loved the fish fillet that's Malaysia-inspired (they have this platter where you can get all 4 flavors, fries and some veggies for P700 I think). It's spicy but not overly so. The India one has curry while the Japan one is wrapped in nori (seaweed wrap?) before being fried.
Since we didn't order any other dish but went straight for the dessert options, I can't really say much about their other offerings. But neighboring bloggers eating their hearts out seem to really enjoy what they ordered.
And mind you, the desserts WERE really treats! I had the hot fudge chocolate cake (P195) and I really loved the presentation, the portion (enough for two!) and the taste (the vanilla ice cream was really creamy and the cake was really moist and rich without being irritatingly sweet). Other desserts like tiramisu and the fruit something were also invitingly presented that it would really be hard to convince yourself that you're not indulging when you order them.

Fish & Co. is true to their word... they do not offer good food, what they offer is a great dining experience!

Spa Theater Experience
My blog post, "Family Reminiscing at a Spa Theater" won techfilipino.com's Bloggers contest so I got to join other bloggers last February 18 at Blue Water Day Spa for some foot reflexology and back massage, while watching Kung Fu Panda.
The following post is as objective as could be.
My only true complaint about the experience is getting a little lost. See, I didn't print out the map provided in the website but I did save the address. And the main landmark is a Caltex station so I shared what I have with the cab driver and trusted he'd bring me where I intended to go.
Blue Water's map should show that there are TWO Caltex stations near Greenhills Shopping center. I was dropped at the one in front when I should have been delivered at the one near the Club Filipino Road/Razon's. I kept calling the receptionist at the spa and asked for other landmarks. Being told that BDO is in front of them didn't help because there was also a BDO near the Caltex station where I was. Being told that I should be seeing the McKinley Drive sign also didn't help because I was also able to see that where I was.
It took about three calls to them and me volunteering the possibility that there could be another Caltex station along Ortigas Avenue before we were able to establish that I was at the wrong Caltex station.
The experience gave me blisters on my feet but it was a small price to pay for the lovely time we had.
The foot reflexology and back massage I got was absolutely wonderful. Had it not been free (our prize for winning the contest), it would have cost me P550 which would have been money well spent. You could say they really trained their staff well and even researched the techniques.
(and just for the record, I have pretty high standards where massage is concerned)
Blue Water Day Spa really invested in their Spa Theater, where all things foot (reflexology, foot spa, etc) happen. If not the latest Blue Ray movies, they show cable TV shows while their patrons get pampered. People can also rent the theater for P7,000 for private screenings (for events, for about 3-4 hours) and pay P21,000 if they want spa services during the screening.

it seats 28, all seats are too plush and wide
not to be inviting

they have four couples' massage/treatment rooms

the sauna in the men's and women's locker rooms
can accommodate up to 8

the best seats are the middle ones, at the center
The staff are friendly, and dressed like they're flight stewardesses.
And yes, I can't wait to go back and try their other services! And yes, I am raving because not all spas are created equal. Some focus more on the ambience without doing the massage right.
Blue Water Day Spa is probably becoming a trusted brand indeed. Some other services they offer include Tibetan Meridian Fire Therapy, Body Massage Therapies and Special Touches, Body Scrubs, facial Treatments, face and Body machine Treatments, hair Removal, Skin Rejuvenation, Spider Vein Treatments, Foot Treatments, and Hand Treatments. They also offer Spa Packages and Membership Packages.
There are branches in Greenhills, Alabang, Makati and Mother Ignacia. I think they're also building one in Tagaytay. But only Greenhills has a spa theater, I think.
*~*
Thanks to Mr. Francis Simisim for the great hospitality. I really wish his business well.
