Gifts for Men
Women always have trouble giving gifts to men. For one thing, they genrally earn better than we do so they can afford more expensive things for us. Then, they're usually into gadgets and spend a great deal of time comparing reviews and such that it's not easy surprising them with something they will like.
And then, there are the clothes that they may not use. So, it's always wallets and belts and perfumes, maybe even cufflinks and watch that we buy for them. Or CDs.
Well then, why not just give them something we also appreciate? Jewelry! Men’s Ruby Rings. Or anything with emeralds or topaz in a masculine design.
Massage certificates with us. Tickets to shows and concerts. Wine. A food trip of meat (sausages, deli meats, burgers at Mercato) or a dessert binge of desserts.
Or... a getaway. Thanks to groupon sites, you can even book trips to Hongkong now on a budget.
So, spend on your guy. He deserves it.

Exercise To Keep Young
People who are pouring through hgh reviews are probably hoping for some anti-aging miracle. But your best bet really in keeping yourself young is a healthy diet, lots of sleep and regular exercise.
Keep moving for good circulation. Exercise also helps lower overall insulin levels which helps people live longer, with a better quality of life.
Take baby steps first before joining a marathon. Start by walking for errands and taking the stairs at work. If you don't want to go jogging, and do not want to invest on a treadmill, then buy a jump rope instead. You can also try exercise videos, even the fancy ones like belly dancing or striptease.
When you're ready, start brisk wallking or jogging at a nearby park, even if you'd only do this three times a week. Then, see the difference. You will positively have more spring in your step, will sleep better and start getting hooked to being active.
Hopefully, all your health issues will also start resolving themselves.

More Aristocrat Bakeshop Treats
black forest mini cake
rocky road fudge, madonna brownie and caramel cheese square
The mini black forest cake we bought left a lot to be desired because the cake was dry. I don't know if that's how they make it or it's an old stock and just got dried up while waiting to be bought. We did not like it one bit.
The rocky road fudge (P42/pc) was ok. It's the madonna (P21/pc) one and the double choco one (not pictured here, P30/pc) that are really chewy and delightful without being too sweet.
My favorite, however, is the caramel cheese square (P25/pc). I think I can eat a box of it. The combination of caramel and cheese is just real heavenly. I'd love to learn how to make it, haha. I just try to resist since I don't want to need pre workout supplements from bingeing on caramel cheese suqares.
You know the caramel squares from Max's that's also really, really good? Well, Aristocrat's caramel cheese squares are sooo much better!

Frostings Cupcakes
I was a little wary when hubs first brought me a box of Frostings Cupcakes. There are a lot of cupcakes out there that aren't really exceptional in any way, and some can be a tad too sweet. Good thing that Frostings Cupcakes delivers... well, depending on the cupcake flavor that is.
white chocolate and sansrival
caramel and belgian chocolate
Love, love, love the white chocolate one. It wasn't very sweet but you get the white chocolate goodness you want.
Check out the other flavors at http://frostingscupcakes.com.ph
Frostings cupcakes has branches at Glorietta 4 (3rd level, Food Choices), Trinoma Mall (3rd level), Landmark (Supermarket Entrance), SM Mall of Asia (G/F near Ice Skating Rink), Robinsons Galleria (3rd level Jumpstreet, West Wing), Shangri-la Rustans (3rd Floor, Children's Division) and Market, Market.

Coming Soon: Eden Showroom in Makati
I still don't have the details yet of where and when the launch of Eden Maternity and Nursing Wear will be but it's happening real soon. It was supposedly end of february but there are some things they're perfecting in the production. One of the owners just told me that it's really a great new collection and I am thrilled, thrilled, thrilled.
that's me in the red top and skirt and who'd think that's a nursing outfit?
I may be biased because Eden's outfits are just my thing (with deep collars and all) but I really highly recommned their stuff. They're like the dereon of maternity and nursing wear. Plus, I was told that yoga practitioners are buying their stuff (like the Aria nursing top)... so where can you get something you can use for yoga, for while you're pregnant, and for when you're nursing (which can last for two years, if you want to reap all its benefits).
Stay tuned ok? And see you there!!!

Red Crab
I have always been curious about Red Crab but always felt it too expensive when I already get into ecstasies at Dampa. After all, what pleases me is the crab cooked and spiced well, not the ambience.
But hubby took me on a date at Red Crab at Resorts World. And I loved the experience.
loved this wall, with the classic Tong, Tong, Tong lyrics
Yangchow fried rice
crab, forgot the way it was cooked, with lots of garlic, black beans and noodles (it was delicious but the crab was deep fried so some of its meat gets stuck to its shell, and well, it was really more of a glorified version of crispy crablets... I wish I just ordered it cooked some other way but I was also wary that chili crab would trigger allergies while I was on the date with hubby.
eggplant omelet
they provide bibs to diners
and provide a bowl of water with some lemon to wash fingers with (note the Sapung Mga Daliri rhyme)... and a hot towel after
The staff are gracious and there was also a singer serenading us there. I'd probably go back to Red Crab to sample their other fares. It's only the crab really that's super expensive (that one cost us around P1500, you can have about 2-3 kilos of crabs cooked for that amount at Dampa).
You can ask your waiter to show you your crab first before they cook it. Try their adobong pusit (squid) cooked three ways because it was very popular with the other patrons.
Red Crab has many branches, like In Alabang and McKinley Hill.

Less Salt for Better Health
Say you're going for better helth this year but aren't prepared yet to really reduce your food intake and exercise regularly. You still can by just modifying your diet. Example, go for less salt.
Reduce the salt you use for cooking. Season the meat already and just add more of flavorful ingredients like spices (pepper, chilli, onion and garlic) and stuff that are rich in umami (like tomatoes, real cheese, etc).
Avoid having to need water retention remedies later. Even chips have healthier alternatives now that offer less junk and sodium but still provide crunch.
One other thing you can do is to decrease the times you eat processed food and the times you eat out.
Just do this one thing and reap the benefits of a healthier kidney!

Blushing Cupcakes
I do not have a picture of their cupcakes because we ate them all. They are smaller than the usual cupcakes (like, by Brownies or Sassy Delights) and the vanilla/buttercream ones are slightly too sweet.
But the cheesecake cupcakes (blueberry and white chocolate) are really great. The blueberry cheesecake is less cupcake (sponge cake) and actually a mini cheesecake with its graham crust, realy good cheesecake and the blueberries on top. I loved, loved it!
Blushing Cupcakes also makes themed cupcakes, so just contact them if you're throwing parties. Of course, do make sure you have enough food storage for them if you're not bringing them directly to the venue. Ants have kinda started storing food already.
And they also offer real food at

Midnight Mercato
I surely did not expect to be back at Mercato just after I blogged after it. But since we came from a wake and were passing through the Fort, my in-laws and my family decided to pass by and check out the hot and grilled area.
The first tent was open but most vendors were only selling chips and pasta. The grill area was extended to accommodate more tables. There were fewer stalls of course but there were still so mnay dining there... and we were there between 1-2 AM.
I loved the pasta pesto I had (I did not get to find out who the seller was) and my in-laws loved the bituka (P50 for 3 pieces, I think). The taclings (small tacos) were good and spicy but since they used molo wrappers, it absorbed the grease and turned my SIL off.
The hit among us is Manang's chicken cooked and seasoned Bonchon style. It was really, really super tasty. BonChon has perfected the double frying thing but Manang's is a cheaper and equally good alternative. I now really want to keep coming back there for some. It's P150 for six pieces (mostly wings).
The great thing about Midnight Mercato is that it's not hot at the grill area and there are less people (if you're only after the sausages anyway). Then again, frequenting the place might result in a need for hydroxycut advanced or hospitalization. So... moderate visits everyone!!!

Mercato Centrale at the Fort
When Mercato Centrale started making a buzz in the blogging world, I was intrigued. I was also excited about all the sinful food involving bacon and fat that are supposedly grilled or served there.
When we got there, however, I was a little disappointed. Overall, Mercato Centrale was just average. Then again, I just made the rounds of Christmas bazaars so I might have expected more.
Mercato Centrale is divided into three parts: the grill area outside (for all that smoke, where everything HOT and GRILLED are), the first tent (with all the fresh, organic, and healthy products from Oh Baby, Indigo Baby, Herb's best, Comida Rica, etc are) and the second tent (that allows for the savory and sweet stuff with indoor dining, where you can get bagnet sandwich, paella and more baked goodies).
the outdoor area where there's a lot of sausages, burgers and sandwiches
those in the covered pots are fish tulingan and the like
I guess I really expected it more to be a market filled with not just food but a lot of other things and trinkets that you don't easily get. Unfortunately, half of the vendors in the fresh and green tent are also selling at Legazpi and Salcedo, White Space and other bazaars. There is nothing wrong with them selling there, just that they're not unique with Mercato.
the bagnet station
the bagnet sandwich (forgot what type of bread this is), this cost over P100... it was ok
fresh lumpia at about P70, so-so said hubs
paella that costs P250, which was tasty for me but so-so for hubs (then again, his standards are real high for paella)
Honestly, I think Mercato Centrale is overrated. It's not bad a place to go, just overrated. And the prices of food real high. Plus, the time we went there, those selling baked goodies should really go home. I appreciate the taste test but Betty Crocker stuff tasted a hundred times better, and theirs supposedly are made from scratch.
We did buy a lot of Herb's Best malunggay, onion & garlic and squash chips. At P75 each or 3-for-P100, it's still really expensive but it's for my aunts and uncles abroad.
We also bought a cheese pesto dip from Comida Rica and a pot of bagoong (with tamarind and honey and only slightly spicy) from this other vendor. And yes, we were happy with our purchases.
Would we go there again? Why not, if we're in the area or I want some cheese pesto dip again. After all, Mercato Centrale is free. But you can buy similar stuff in their savory & sweet section at Market Market or other Sunday markets. And most of the mommy-baby stuff can be bought online (hi, Multiply).
So yeah, I might go there again if only to try the sinful, stroke-inviting burgers and sandwiches.
Oh, I do like the fact that most people who go there limit their 'kalat' when eating and that there are people who clean the tables up after. It may still prove hard to find seats at rush hour.
Anyway, Mercato Centrale operates Saturdays and Sundays from 6:00am - 2:00pm. You can also check their website http://www.mercatocentrale.ph/ to learn more about their commissaries or to also be one.
Heck, i'd love for my SIL to sell our tokwa't baboy there and give all those other vendors a run for their money.
*~*
Note: I am no foodie but I know my cookies and brownies. hehe.

Borough at the Podium
When I first went to Borough at the Podium, I felt the ambience was a lot like Kabisera by Dencio's. It was more dimly lit though, but there's also that split-level type thing. I didn't notice the outdoor lighting fixtures since I came in from the mall.
The blogger event I attended was held in the 2nd floor.
These are the things they served us.
buffalo wings I think, and real spicy too
chocolate chicken wings (which tasted weird for me, it was spicy too)
corn on the cob
Rothko Caesar Salad, which I really loved
Dessert was freshly-baked cookies and a shot of milk. Didn't get to taste the pasta.
I would definitely want my hubby to treat me at Borough again but we're really seldom at the Podium. I believe it doubles as a night spot too and it is open 24/7. It's quiet and really provides a great dining experience. The owner also tends to hover and asks the guests for feedback.

What Would Be Great in Groupon Sites
We always see deals for massages and dining and hotel stays in groupon sites. Because it's Valentine season, there were also a lot of chocolates, cakes, flowers and wine in their listings... but what would really be great on groupon sites?
Gadgets, of course. Appliances. Computers. Even buy hdmi cables for our TVs. I know these are big ticket items but if you can spring for a P24k Boracay trip or a helicopter ride, why not some more for the latest tablet or phone?
Plus, people just really like buying online. They can test the gadgets when they pick them up.
Am I right, or not? :)
(yeah, personally, i'd love to buy a new DSLR!)

I am now asking my friend to e-mail me my picture hanging from a bridge. Then again, I can't join the run just yet, hehe.

Cupcakes by Sassy Delights
Cupcake trees are more common now in birthday parties. However, they're usually just really great to look at but are just so-so to the taste.
Well, not the cupcakes by Sassy Delights. I only got to taste the vanilla one though but it was just really, really great. My husband also preferred it over the chocolate cupcake. If you eat the icing alone on the vanilla cupcake, it'd be grainy sweet. If you eat the cake alone, it will be just like most vanilla cakes (the vanilla is very strong but it's not sickening). But together, they're a perfect combination.

Sassy Delights sells vanilla, chocolate and chocolate peppermint cupcakes at P40 each. Cookies and Cream and Red Velvet cupcakes cost P45 while Cookie Dough cupcakes cost P50/each.
Contact Sassy Delight's baker Yssa Fider at 0905-6653063 for costing of additional designs and delivery/pick up arrangements.
You can also check Sassy delights at http://sassydelights.multiply.com/ or like them on Facebook.
I really recommend the cupcakes for the taste!
